Do You Need a Licence or Any Experience?
No licence is required to ride a quad on the Agafay tracks — they are private trails, not public roads. You do not need previous experience either. What you do need is to be able to follow simple instructions and to be honest with your guide about how comfortable you feel.

Why Agafay Suits First-Timers
A quad — or ATV — is a four-wheeled machine with automatic transmission. There is no clutch and no gears to think about: a thumb throttle to go, a brake lever to stop, handlebars to steer. That is the whole interface.

What We Provide, What You Bring
We supply the quad, fuel, a helmet and protective goggles, plus a guide who rides with the group throughout. You bring:
— Closed shoes. Trainers are fine, sandals are not.
— Long trousers. They protect against dust and the hot engine casing.
— A scarf or buff for your nose and mouth. Agafay is dusty by definition.
— Sunglasses and sunscreen, even in winter.
— A jacket for late-afternoon departures, when the temperature drops fast.

The Briefing, Step by Step
Every departure starts with the same fifteen minutes. Your guide walks you through the controls, you do a slow lap of the flat practice area, and only then does the group set off. Nobody leaves the base until the guide is satisfied that everyone can start, steer and — most importantly — stop.

Five Things That Make Riding Easy
1. Look where you want to go, not at your front wheel. The quad follows your eyes more than you would expect.
2. Stay off the brake in corners. Slow down before the turn, then hold a steady throttle through it.
3. Stand slightly on rough ground. Lifting off the seat lets your legs absorb the bumps.
4. Keep your distance. Three quad-lengths from the machine ahead — dust hides holes.
5. Lean into the slope. On a side-slope, shift your weight uphill.
The Mistakes Beginners Actually Make
Two, mostly. The first is grabbing a fistful of throttle out of nerves, which does the opposite of what you want. The throttle is a thumb lever and it responds to small movements — treat it like a volume dial, not a switch.
The second is riding faster than you can see. The group kicks up dust, and the temptation is to close the gap. Resist it. The guide sets a pace that suits the slowest rider, and there is no prize for being at the front.
Choosing Your First Ride
